Converters can improve process consistency, simplify audits, reduce manual administration, and more.
August 28, 2026
By: Greg Hrinya
As quality requirements continue to rise across the industry, converters face growing pressure to demonstrate consistent quality, complete traceability, and documented compliance while maintaining operational efficiency.
CERM, a global provider of MIS software for the label, flexible packaging, and folding carton industries, will introduce enhanced quality management functionality at LOUPE Americas 2026. This enables converters to replace paper-based quality documentation with digital checklists directly connected to every production job, creating a centralized quality record throughout the manufacturing process.
By digitizing and standardizing quality procedures, converters can improve process consistency, simplify audits, reduce manual administration, and strengthen compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
“One of the biggest benefits of implementing CERM is that it allows us to do more with the same staff. We reallocate people’s time toward other areas of business. We are not looking to eliminate positions – we have incredible people and take pride in hiring the right talent. Instead, CERM helps us empower the team and focus their skills where they can have the greatest impact,” says John Abbott, president of Abbott Label.
For this industry, quality directly impacts profitability. Products that do not meet specifications can result in costly recalls, production downtime at customer sites, wasted materials, expedited reprints, and damaged customer relationships. The quality management features help to reduce these risks by ensuring that quality checks become an integrated part of the production workflow, instead of disconnected paper records.
Alongside improved quality management, CERM will introduce significant enhancements to its traceability capabilities.
While CERM already captures production data such as operator and machine clocking, material consumption, and SKU creation, the latest updates extend visibility throughout the manufacturing process. The system now creates a digital record of machine activity whenever a new production input is scanned or started, when an operator change occurs, or when a semi-finished good is completed. It includes details such as timestamp, duration, unit, image, product list, and pallet.
The activity collected is gathered in a comprehensive report where converters can easily visualize the entire production history and trace back all relevant information for each production job. Giving converters access to this report enables them to simplify investigations, improve accountability, and support customer and regulatory traceability requirements.
The report further expands CERM’s existing reporting and traceability capabilities and provides converters with a more complete overview of production, supporting better decision-making, and allowing them to meet the high-quality requirements of the industry.
CERM customers can use this functionality not only for their narrow web label production, but also for sheetfed offset, wet glue and RFID labels, and folding carton production. All of which is supported by this additional traceability functionality.
Visitors to CERM’s booth #3419 at LOUPE Americas will also discover Lexis, the AI agent that automatically transforms incoming customer emails and attachments into validated CERM sales orders, dramatically reducing manual order entry while keeping users in control through a final review before processing.
Plus, CERM will showcase the latest generation of CERM Tempo, the CERM rule-based scheduler, which is helping create more efficient production schedules, improve machine utilization, and respond faster to changing production priorities.
Meanwhile, Smart BI Enterprise is the new version of CERM’s BI tool and will be presented, as well. With its new architecture, customers will now be able to combine the Smart BI data model with external data sources. The release comes with a brand-new set of standard reports and automatic translations of the data model. Plus, the company will provide an exclusive preview of O2, CERM’s cloud-based MIS platform that was released during the event.
